The CIA & The Media Read: The CIA Family Jewels Coming soon: What the DailyKOS, WikiPedia, Danny Pearl, Anderson Cooper & the CIA have in common. And... Congress investigating News Networks for turning Bush opponents over to NSA for intimidation and harassment. Meanwhile... about Anderson Cooper Tell them that when they have analysts described as former intelligence agency agents, they must also disclose their current affiliations/contracts with intelligence agencies, particularly if it includes spreading disinformation and propaganda. If people like Armstrong Williams are being paid to promote an administration policy or proposal, they must disclose it at the time of the interview, verbally, or by chiron. Otherwise, they are either perpetrating a hoax, committing fraud, or performing psychological operations, redefined by Donald Rumsfeld as "Political Affairs". If a broadcaster is aware of these things and does not reveal it, then they are complicit in the hoax. And they do not deserve Telecom style protections from Congress. The Pelosi Smear Job by the National Media....
by Eric Boehlert The freedom with which reporters and pundits who covered the Pelosi story for ABC, CNN, MSNBC, the Associated Press, and Los Angeles Times, among others, simply made stuff up has to concern anybody who is interested in journalism, anybody who sees political reporting as more than a game. Because it's becoming increasingly clear that lots of D.C. journalists no longer take their jobs seriously. The Pelosi brouhaha simply represented the latest, most glaring example of the at-times nonexistent standards by which Beltway newsrooms now function.

Council on Foreign Relations
"ALL THIS IS TO BE done in the interest of creating a more peaceful, more productive world community. I have no hesitancy about judging its wisdom and the results of its actions. "A REPORT PRESENTED AT THE PLENARY MEETING OF THE TRILATERAL COMMISSION IN MAY 1975, AT KYOTO, JAPAN, CALLED FOR AN ENLARGEMENT OF CENTRAL AUTHORITY AND EXPRESSED A LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN DEMOCRATICALLY ARRIVED AT PUBLIC DECISIONS. "It also suggested that it would be helpful to IMPOSE PRIOR RESTRICTIONS ON THE PRESS and to restructure the laws of libel to CHECK THE POWER OF THE PRESS. "I've suffered as greatly from an abusive press as any man in public life, but I get an itchy, uncomfortable feeling at the base of my spine when someone suggest that government should control the news.
